Universal Remote Control, Inc., couldn’t have asked for a better 2009 in terms of accolades from the press.

URC's PSX-2

In January, CE Pro‘s Julie Jacobson called the ultimate iPod dock, URC’s PSX-2 Personal Server, the Best Product of CES 2009. Among Julie’s reasons: “What makes the dock smart are the ‘hooks’… that enable users to do the unthinkable: like add the current song to a playlist – on the fly. Try doing that with an iPod.”

URC's MX-6000

In June, Home Entertainment‘s Dennis Burger reviewed URC’s MX-6000 Two-Way Color Touch Screen. His verdict: “For the first time, I’m using a remote control system that works exactly the way I think it should… The MX-6000 simply rocks, in the parlance of our times. It’s an incredibly flexible, sophisticated remote that scales beautifully to just about any home entertainment setting, from a one-room media room to a whole private residence’s worth of audio, video and automation.”

URC's MX-5000

In November, Matt Burns of CrunchGear.com spent some quality time with URC’s MX-5000 Two-Way Color Touch Screen Remote: the world’s first wand-style touch screen remote control with haptic technology, which provides vibrating feedback with every touch screen press. Matt called the MX-5000 “the best remote on the planet,” supporting that judgment with statements like, “[H]oly cow, it’s effen amazing”; “It feels like a million bucks… easily the best-feeling remote I have ever used”; “the easiest way to control Windows Media Center with a remote that I have ever used”; and “the complete package: candy bar form factor, totally customizable, Wi-Fi- and RF-enabled, and it feels amazing.”

Those were just a few of the raves and awards URC garnered in 2009. As you might expect, there’s more to come in 2010. If you’re media and would like a sneak preview, let me know at BeeElevated at gmail.com!

DENVER – SCTE Cable-Tec Expo ® ’09 – Booth 12059 – October 28-30, 2009 – Universal Remote Control ®, Inc. (URC), The Pioneer in Control Technology, will unveil two new remote controls for subscription broadcast providers this week: the UR5U-9000L and the UR3L-SR4.

The URC UR5U-9000L

The UR5U-9000L will be URC’s new top-of-the-line cable remote. It includes all of the features cable operators have come to expect from URC, updated with a radical new design that is sharp and modern. The UR5U-9000L, which runs on two AA alkaline batteries, can control up to five devices, is Tru2way-compliant and possesses optional learning capability. Available in black or silver, it features 63 keys, 64 Kb of memory and red backlighting for easy use in low-light conditions.

“The UR5U-9000L takes our subscription broadcast product line to the next level,” said Bill Baker, URC vice president, national accounts. “It combines our market-leading feature set with the advanced ergonomics and design for which URC is renowned.”

The UR3L-SR4 is a large-button Tru2way remote with multi-color keys and built-in learning capability. Available in black, it runs on two AAA alkaline batteries, can control up to three devices, and features 46 keys and 32 Kb of memory.

“The UR3L-SR4 is an easy-to-use cable remote that is perfect for the senior market, as well as for hospitality applications,” said Baker.

URC offers subscription broadcast providers a level of support that approaches that of an in-house remote control department. Its customer service department is individually tailored to meet each provider’s needs, and offers a toll-free 800 number, free onsite training and free dedicated website support. To further reduce costly service calls, URC maintains one of the industry’s most robust device code libraries for the A/V components that cable subscribers use.

What’s Bee Elevated? Perhaps our tagline can shed some light: “Be seen. Be heard. Be understood. Bee Elevated. Build buzz.” This tagline neatly sums up what Bee Elevated will do for each and every client we service.

Our mission is to assist organizations that seek clarity, focus and positive results in their communication with their targeted audiences in the public and in the media.

Our services include not only comprehensive traditional and Web 2.0 PR programs, but also marketing and PR consultation, professional writing and editing services (articles for submission to media outlets, copy writing, blogging, social media), online reputation management and monitoring, trade show and event support, and much more.

I am in the process of setting up Bee Elevated’s web site; I’ll let you know when it’s up and running. In the meantime, you can follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/BeeElevated or, of course, follow this blog. We’ll have a Facebook fan page soon as well. I can be contacted directly at BeeElevated@gmail.com.

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge and express my thanks to my previous employer, Caster Communications. My decision to leave Caster was not an easy one, as my time there was enjoyable personally and professionally. I sincerely wish Kimberly Lancaster and the Caster team continued success.

This is an exciting time for me, and I am pleased to share it with you. I appreciate all of your good wishes, and look forward to working with some of you, perhaps cordially competing with others, and at all times performing up to the standards that you have come to expect from me.
